Settling Into Parenthood

We love our little boy. It's been a pleasure to see him develop... keeping his eyes open more, beginning to smile, cooing, little hands, little feet, etc. Despite these delights, at almost 8 weeks of life Jack feels so small and vulnerable. It is a continuing challenge to be a relaxed parent and not worry. Around 2 weeks of age Jack was diagnosed with reflux (GERD) which is apparently a common difficulty for new babies. Jack spits up significant amounts during and after most feedings. He is on medication to relieve the pain caused from the acidity in the back flowing milk. Although he is generally a pleasant newborn, at times we can see he is pain and it is disheartening not knowing how to help. He is hanging in there and we are looking forward to the day he outgrows this!

Our little one and his many faces...
