The character etched on the faces on those we encountered was enchanting. Not speaking the language or having any type of real conversation with PL's locals, we were left to imagine the stories behind the lines on their faces. We love this picture!
Market #4 was one of our favorite spots in PL, and in China for that matter. The food at this market was incredible. Little slices of heaven in every bite. Chris and Diane frequent this market making our experience even better as they were regulars to the vendors.

The mutton man and his family.
Another noteworthy encounter with Chinese fare was Ms. Y's cooking. Ms. Y is Chris and Diane's helper. She spends weekday mornings at their home, helping with the kids and other household chores. We had the honor of eating a traditional meal Ms. Y prepared for us. The amount of food she made was outrageous, but provided tasty leftovers for several meals. It was delectable!
During out time in PL, we became acquainted with the Oasis Training Center as it is where Chris and Diane work. We had a great time touring their school, observing Chris teach, and participating in their Friday night activity by leading a small group discussion with students. We have a true appreciation for their students and the purity of their motivation and drive to excel in school. The students' attitudes stood in stark constrast to those of American students. While it appears many American post-secondary students feel entitled to an education that requires little work, these students viewed their education as an opportunity of which to take full advantage. http://www.oasistrainingcenter.com/
