For a week in August we joined Dave's family beachside. A yearly tradition for at least the past two decades, some combination of the Benner family enjoys a summer week in the sun. Dave and I had not been for several years, but made the trek out as the entire family convened this summer. Despite the humidity and the heat, we enjoyed hours of sand play, ocean waves, and conversation / reading beneath Calvin's classic orange and yellow umbrella.
Our fast-growing nephews enjoyed building sand castles, forts, roads, and ravines... the sand was a close runner-up to the ocean water, espically for our nephew Derek.
One day several of us took an early morning walk to a nearby pier to watch the sunrise. The early morning ambiance and good company was worth our missed sleep.
We're thankful for continued travel and time with family.
